Wooden building blocks - GES-2 Inner Feeling – Open-ended play – Raduga Grëz

The GES-2 Building Blocks “Inner Feeling” by Raduga Grëz are a unique wooden play set where architecture, contemporary art, and open-ended play come together. The set was developed in collaboration with GES-2 and is inspired by the interior of the building, whose reconstruction was designed by Italian architect Renzo Piano, known as co-architect of the Centre Pompidou in Paris.

In the various shapes, you can recognize elements from the GES-2 building, such as pipes, stairs, a green crane, and a large arched window. But precisely because there is no fixed outcome, children can constantly re-interpret and combine the parts. Today, a building emerges; tomorrow, an abstract work of art, a bridge, a machine, or a completely imagined landscape.

Open-ended play

This set is all about free creation. There is no end result and no single correct way to play. Children can build, stack, balance, dismantle, and start again. This way, a new world constantly emerges from the same wooden parts.

The toy pieces are handmade in small batches from solid wood. Natural wood grains and markings are allowed to remain visible, making each piece unique.

Handmade from solid linden wood

The GES-2 blocks are made from solid linden wood, a type of wood historically used for icons and matryoshka dolls.

The parts are finished with safe, transparent water-based paint, allowing the natural wood grain to remain visible and the soft, almost velvety texture of the wood to remain palpable. The sharp corners are hand-rounded for a pleasant finish.
