Description
The Collage Building Blocks from Raduga Grëz are inspired by the famous paper cut-outs of Henri Matisse. The abstract shapes from his later work have been translated into solid wood, allowing children to create their own three-dimensional compositions — without fixed rules, examples, or step-by-step instructions.
This set does not consist of standard blocks, but of organic, expressive shapes. Wavy lines might evoke coral or flames, green shapes stones or beans, and other parts stairs, suns, or keys. But nothing is fixed: it is up to the child to decide what each part represents.
The blocks can be laid flat like a wooden collage, stacked into towers, or combined with other toys. This makes the set perfect for open-ended play and allows the play to evolve with the child's imagination.
Playing like a little artist
With the Collage set, children can:
- Create abstract compositions
- Lay shapes flat as a wooden artwork
- Build towers and balance structures
- Combine colors and shapes
- Invent their own stories and figures
- Combine the parts with other open-ended toys
The set playfully stimulates fine motor skills, spatial awareness, balance, and artistic self-confidence.
About Raduga Grëz
Raduga Grëz creates wooden toys for modern families who appreciate creativity, natural materials, and beautiful design. The brand believes that toys don't need to dictate everything. The less the toy dictates, the more room there is for a child's imagination.
The sets are handmade in small batches and are designed to be beautiful enough to display in the home, but most importantly, to be played with again and again.
Handmade from solid linden wood
The Collage Building Blocks are made from solid linden wood. Each piece is hand-sanded to prevent sharp edges and splinters.
The matte water-based paint provides a soft grip, so the pieces are less likely to slip during building. The finish is non-toxic, free of heavy metals, and complies with the European toy safety standard EN 71.
